Top 10 DIY disasters for millennials who can't cope including gluing fingers together

Millions of millennials say they fail to stick at DIY… because they keep gluing their fingers together.

Research found one in five Brits aged 20 to 37 has come unstuck while using adhesive.

Almost as many say they cannot build flat-pack furniture.

Some 16 per cent have hit their fingers with a hammer, 14 per cent have broken items they were repairing and 12 per cent have had an electric shock.

An unlucky 11 per cent admit they have injured themselves or someone else while doing jobs.

Five per cent say they have smashed a window and three per cent have hung a door the wrong way round.

But that’s a minor inconvenience compared to the two per cent of hamfisted handymen – or women – who managed to start a house fire.

Researchers found almost 90 per cent of all millennial DIY ends in disaster. And 86 per cent turn to Google and Facebook for help while in the midst of a crisis.

Women fare a little better, with 76 per cent owning up to a disaster, compared to 82 per cent of fellas.

The findings among Britain’s 24 million millennials were uncovered by property website Bayut.

Spokesman Sahar Khan said: “When attempting DIY for the first time, a lot of things can and will go wrong. We were particularly surprised to see how many millennials were managing to glue their fingers together.”

DIY expert and TV presenter Max McMurdo added: “Trial and error are all part of learning and improving and this is the same with DIY.

"However, having a DIY mishap can sometimes lead to injury so we all need to take caution with performing home improvements.”
