NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: Well-known rocker Artiwara Kongmalai, better known as Toon Bodyslam, arrived in Muang district of this southern province on Sunday morning on the 11th day of his 2,191-kilometre, 55-day run from Yala to Chiang Rai to raise funds for 11 state-run hospitals.

Toon started his run at 4.30am and was later greeted by a number of people waiting to give him donations in front of the office of Tha Rua tambon administration organisation (TAO) in Muang district.

There, Toon paid respects to an 81-year-old grandmother called Thavorn and received a piggy bank from an 11-month-old girl named Saengthien.

To the girl, he said: "When you grow up, I hope you become a doctor and treat me in the future."

It was drizzling all the way. Toon was to arrive at Wat Phra Mahathat Voramahaviharn in Muang district at about 1pm, when a ceremony would be held for the governor to present him with a 16-million-baht cheque, a donation from businessman Jimmy Chawala.
