Toom - the new St George's Cross cafe serving delicious Arabic dishes and treats

Sudanese falafel, Lebanese coffee and knefe, Palestinian fools, Egyptian Basbousa cupcakes- the very best of Middle Eastern food and drink has arrived at a brand new food spot.

Toom, an artisanal kitchen and art cafe, opened its doors on St George's Road shortly before Christmas. Since then they've been introducing curious westenders to an array of hearty savoury and sweet treats which are staples of Arabic cuisine.

For the rest of us, who haven't quite managed to make the trip out there yet, we've been left salivating over what's on offer via Toom's beautiful Instagram page, with the owners fusing their artistic talent with their passion for delicious Middle Eastern dishes.

And the passionate, inventive duo behind Toom have introduced their own twists from traditional food and drink offerings from the region.

Owners Noor and Alaa told Glasgow Live: "We’re an artisanal cafe that offer Arabic food with a twist. We’ve introduced some traditional Lebanese, Sudanese, Palestinian, Egyptian (and other) foods and put our artisanal touch to it.

"For example we’ve taken the traditional Lebanese coffee which is usually served in the pot we boil it in, black, and used it as a base for a latte so we’ve created a Lebanese latté!"

And, as explained, for Noor and Alaa, it's about introducing as well as integrating cultures, to feed hungry local residents including people from the Middle East who are missing that taste of home.

They said: "I’m half Lebanese and half Saudi, and Alaa is half Sudanese half Palestinian. So in other words we’re trying to integrate our culture into this wee shop!

"We thought a lot of Arabs might be homesick as well."

To see Toom's menu in full and to get a look at some of the mouthwatering Middle Eastern snacks and sweets on offer, visit their impressive Instagram page here, which also showcases some of their impressive artwork too!

If you haven't yet had the chance to visit, you can pop by to 123 St George's Road, G3 6JA.
