Tool and equipment hire provider Speedy anticipates strong second half

Speedy, which provides tool and equipment hire to the construction and infrastructure sector, has today announced it expects a strong end to the year.

The Newton-le-Willows-based group said its second half is likely to be stronger than the first as a result of contract wins and extensions in the period, including with CALA Homes and Peel Ports.

The group made the announcement in a trading update ahead of its half-year results due to be published on November 13.

The group said it expects adjusted profit before tax for the full year to be in line with expections.

In the half year to September 30, the group saw revenue, pre disposals, increase by around six per cent on the previous year, with hire and service revenue growing by around one per cent and 13 per cent, respectively.

Revenue from SME customers grew by more than 25 per cent in the first half compared to prior year, it also said.

Speedy expects net debt to be around £86m, where it was £89.4m at March 31, which it said reflects continued investment in hire fleet.

The group has predicted it to reduce in the second half.
