Mitchell Pearce - the son of Balmain Tiger's legend Wayne Pearce - has walked a rocky road through his career with the NRL. He has faced scrutiny and public scorn after leading a life embroiled in off-field controversies that eventually landed him in a Thai rehabilitation clinic around 2016, but he says he has faced his demons and emerged a better person.

Pearce's controversial split with the Sydney Roosters led him to captain the Newcastle Knights from 2018. He joins Barry Toohey in episode 12 of Toohey's new podcast, Toohey's News, as the NRL's return after the season was shut down due to the outbreak of coronavirus, to discuss life lessons learned before and after the Roosters and his career with the Knights - the club where he envisages spending the remainder of his footballing career.
