We all know about nepotism (though not, here at Lost in Showbiz, first hand, of course) but what do you call it when a mother profits from her daughter's connections? And what, then, when the mother in question is doing so against her daughter's wishes?
I'm thinking, in case you haven't already guessed, of the awkward decision of Sue Katona, mother of Kerry, to publish a memoir which will, so we are tantalisingly promised, include "secrets of her daughter's past".
Secrets, Kerry? I didn't think you had any left after you brought out your own instructive volume which was, quite rightly, entitled Too Much Too Young. And then posed and gave interviews to every possibly outlet, glossy or not, about every crevice of your private life.
Yes, answers our hypothetical Kerry. I do have some secrets left. Or rather my mother falsely alleges that I do. Among them are a period of prostitution to finance a drug habit. But then my publicist, Max Clifford - no less - denies this forcefully.
Will Kerry/Max be demanding a pulping of the book from publisher John Blake? And will Blake be having words with his other author, Emily Herbert, who only recently brought out a study entitled Kerry - Story of a Survivor but didn't manage to unearth this gem?
