Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move for Middlesbrough captain George Friend.
The Reds are keen on signing the 32-year-old defender, along with Birmingham and Swansea City, according to Football Insider.
Friend is currently out-of-contract at the Riverside Stadium but has been offered a new deal - reported to be on reduced terms.
The left-back, who can also operate in central defence, has made 299 appearances for Middlesbrough.
Boss Neil Warnock has spoken about the future of Friend and team-mate Marvin Johnson, who is in a similar situation.
“They’ve both given me everything,” said Warnock last month.
“George has been fantastic for this club both on and off the field, and Marvin has done ever so well during the time I’ve been here.
“We’ve been talking all the time about players, and now the season is over, I’m sure discussions will take place regarding both players.”
Asked if they were under pressure to sign new deals, Warnock said: “Not really, no. They can have the time to decide.
“I think the football industry at the moment you’ve got to be careful as a player because if you take too long, it’s too late.
“There will be a time where we want to know but at the moment I’m more concerned with trying to bring new faces into the squad.”
On Friend, Warnock added: “He’s like a Sol Bamba at Cardiff for me is George, he looks after the dressing room and makes it a lot easier for me.”
