A drug-driver who was 'a little too excited to get his KFC' lost control of his car and smashed into the front of a shop.

The Ford Mondeo collided with the building on Pickup Street in Ince-in-Makerfield, Wigan, on Thursday evening (May 14).

The driver and two passengers tried to flee the scene, police said.

But officers caught up with them and they were detained.

The driver failed a drug test.

He was also found to have no driving licence and no insurance.

In a tweet, the traffic unit at Greater Manchester Police said the driver was a 'little too excited to get his KFC' when he lost control of the car.

There is KFC branch on Manchester Road just metres away from where the incident happened.

The tweet said: "Driver of the Mondeo was a little too excited to get his KFC and lost control when he turned into Pickup Street, Ince.

"The car collided with the shop and three occupants made off.

"The driver and both passengers were detained by XT64 and XTS5.

"No licence or insurance and failed drug test."

GMP have no stated whether any arrests were made.
