Too Close viewers slam ITV drama for ‘unrealistic’ scenes amid various plot blunders

Viewers tuning into the second episode of Too Close on Tuesday night were keen to point out a few glaring errors in the ITV drama.

The three-part series stars Emily Watson as Dr. Emma Robertson, a forensic psychiatrist who is assigned to work with Connie Mortensen (Denise Gough) - a woman accused of a heinous crime but who claims she cannot remember a thing.

During episode two of the thriller, the plot thickened as viewers found out that Connie's husband was sleeping with her new friend and neighbour, Ness Jones (Thalissa Teixeira).

It was also revealed that Dr Robertson had a young daughter who died before the age of seven, and was still struggling with her grief, as well as a her counselling sessions with Connie.

At the end of episode one, Connie was seen playing with Dr Robertson's lighter and her invasion of her private life continued in episode two as she revealed she had read notifications on Dr Robertson's phone.

Viewers were left feeling frustrated as they believed a doctor would never take their personal belongings into a patient's room.

"Emma should leave her handbag in her locker #TooClose," one person tweeted.

Another posted: "Starting to get annoying at Emma’s total lack of foresight and professionalism, taking her whole life into an interrogation room and putting it on display to a psychopath. I know it’s a drama but had to have some credibility. #TooClose."

A third viewer added: "Pretty sure you can’t take your handbag, phone, cigarettes and lighter onto a forensic ward....but I’m still liking this. Dramatic license and all that #TooClose."

A fourth tweeted: "Should be good but so far let down by poor script and unrealistic scenes , eg dinner party in episode 1. Wouldn’t happen.. Shame... #TooClose."

Some viewers felt the drama was 'unrealistic' as Connie referred to Ness as her 'best friend' despite hardly knowing her (ITV)

Viewers also felt that it was pretty far fetched for Connie to be referring to Ness as her "best friend" when she confronts her husband about sleeping with her.

"This us the most unbelievable unrealistic b***ocks I've ever seen. #TooClose," one viewer fumed.

"Best friend? I thought they'd not long met.#TooClose," a second wrote, while a third added: "Best friend? You just met her. Maybe this means you don't have any friends. I get it. #TooClose."

Too Close concludes on Wednesday at 9pm on ITV.
