Too Close cast as ITV debut new three part psychological thriller

There's a new drama to get stuck into this week in the form of ITV's new psychological thriller Too Close.

If you've finally come to terms with what happened in the final episode of Unforgotten a few weeks ago and need something to take your mind of THAT cliff hanger from Sunday night's Line of Duty, Too Close could be just the tonic as it makes its debut on Monday night.

The three parter was shot in London last year and concerns itself with the relationship between forensic psychiatrist Dr Emma Robertson and notorious criminal Connie Mortensen, who can't remember a thing about the accusations made against her.

But Emma takes on an unenviable task of getting into Connie's head and finding out what happened on the night of the crime, the tables turn as Connie has a searing insight into Emma’s deepest insecurities and starts to brutally exploit them.

Their sessions become a complex psychological game with confusing undercurrents which are set to leave viewers' heads scrambled.

There are some well known faces in the cast, including an Olivier Award winner.

Too Close was commissioned for ITV by Head of Drama Polly Hill who commenting on it after it was first announced last year, said: "Too Close is a brilliant script where you are never sure who has the power - the psychologist or her patient, or whether Connie is the monster she’s portrayed as.

"I’m delighted that Emily Watson is going to play Emma, who will be phenomenal and I’m looking forward to working with Ruth Kenley-Letts and the team at Snowed-In Productions to bring this fantastic adaptation to ITV.”
