Tony Weston accelerates Rangers rise as striker steals the show with UEFA Youth League hat-trick

Rangers youngster Tony Weston has sent a message to new Ibrox boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst with a stunning UEFA Youth League hat-trick.

The young Ibrox side beat Septemvri Sofia 4-2 in an enthralling second-round first-leg clash over in Bulgaria.

Weston opened the scoring after 20 minutes but goals from Sofia's Simeon Alexandrov and Martin Stoychev looked sure to send the hosts into a half-time lead.

Cole McKinnon made sure that wasn't the case and 18-year-old Weston rifled in two more goals to cap off a brilliant afternoon.

The forward joined Rangers from Blackpool in 2020 and is currently the Lowland League's joint-top scorer with 15 league goals.

He has also netted in the Challenge Cup this season and his hat-trick puts Rangers in a commanding position ahead of the return leg on December 7th.

Comprised of U20s players, the Ibrox youngsters made their way into the second round with a 5-1 aggregate victory over Swedish youth champions Hammarby IF.

Van Bronckhorst takes charge of his first game as Rangers manager on Thursday in the Europa League against Sparta Prague.
