Tony Romo and Jim Nantz will call Broncos-Chargers game on CBS

CBS announced Monday that its No. 1 broadcast crew of Jim Nantz, Tony Romo and Tracy Wolfson will call Sunday’s game between the Denver Broncos (2-2) and Los Angeles Chargers (0-4).

Romo was competing for a spot in the Safeway Open last week and if he had qualified, he would have skipped the CBS game between the Minnesota Vikings (2-2) and Chicago Bears (3-1). Romo missed the cut and called the game as scheduled.

Romo isn’t competing in any golf tournaments this week so he’ll be available for Denver’s game against Los Angeles.

Romo, 39, was courted by the Broncos two years ago but the ex-Dallas Cowboys quarterback ended up retiring instead of agreeing to a trade. Romo then joined CBS as a commentator and quickly emerged as a fan favorite.

Fans on Twitter have enjoyed watching Romo correctly predict play calls during games. Romo has received praise from players, too, including Denver wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders.

Sunday’s game will begin at 2:05 p.m. MT and will regionally on CBS.
