Tony Pulis claims Newcastle United's situation is "insane" as he railed against the instability at the club.
In views that will anger United fans still smarting from Friday's awful 2-0 defeat at Southampton, Pulis told Sky's Soccer Saturday that the instability at the club means staying in the Premier League would be a "fantastic" achievement.
And the former Stoke boss said Steve Bruce's performance as boss should be hailed.
He said: "We spoke about Southampton and the stability they've got there and now it's filtered right through to the team and the players, the coaching staff and the management there. Every time you talk about Newcastle there's instability. The chairman's going to sell the football club, they don't like the manager, they don't like the system, they don't like the way they play, they don't like this, they don't like that.
"There's always stuff going on. It's one of those clubs. It's just insane, actually, listening to people talking about it.
"Steve's done a very good job there in a very difficult situation. I don't care what anyone says. If they stay in the Premier League, they stay mid-table that's good for him. That's fantastic result for him and the football club.
"The only way you're going to sort it out is if someone comes in a buys the football club and they push on from there. But at the moment it's all about instability and you need someone in there who has got big shoulders who can take all the pressure, all the flak and keep them in the Premier League.
"It's like chalk and cheese, looking at Newcastle and Southampton."
