Tony Pulis has claimed Bristol City apologised to Middlesbrough after beating them last month.
The Robins ran out 1-0 winners at the Riverside at the start of last month to give their play-off chances a shot in the arm, and also damage Boro's own hopes.
Adam Webster's header gave the Robins the victory, but Middlesbrough had 23 shots in the game and missed a number of gilt-edged chances.
It turned out that neither side finished in the top six, with City's defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and eventual sixth-placed finishers Derby County costing them, and a six-game losing run ending Boro's hopes.
Speaking to BBC Tees , Pulis laid the blame squarely at their wretched run - and claimed that the Robins went so far as to apologise for winning after Boro had carved out numerous chances in the match.
He said: "I don't think there's anything I haven't enjoyed other than those bloody six games. We didn't deserve to lose them. If we did, I'd be honest enough to say, but I just don't think it went for us.
Kasey Palmer's social media post hints that he isn't returning to Bristol City from Chelsea
"Dani's sending off against Preston when we're murdering then, they score from that free-kick; Bristol City came in afterwards and apologised for us not beating them; Leeds scoring in the 110th minute. I'll look back and have a few sleepless nights about those little things.
"It just didn't feel like the wind blew our way and that happens sometimes."
