Tony Mowbray raves about 'wonderful talent' Harvey Elliott after Liverpool loanee's spectacular goal

Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray has heaped praise on Liverpool loanee Harvey Elliott after his fantastic solo goal against Norwich City.

The 17-year-old scored one of the goals of the weekend to equalise for Rovers as he picked the ball up midway through the opposition half before jinking past two players and putting the ball past Michael McGovern.

It was a phenomenal goal against the Championship league leaders, although it turned out to be in vain as Norwich retook the lead to win 2-1.

Elliott has already scored three goals and registered four assists in 13 appearances and looks destined to play at a higher level in the not too distant future.

After the match, Mowbray raved about Elliott's performance, describing him as a "wonderful talent".

“I haven’t seen the goal back, but seeing him produce a goal like that really doesn’t surprise me," Mowbray told Rovers.co.uk.

“He’s a wonderful talent, he’s a brilliant individual to work with as well.

“I tell the team to give him the ball, much like I did with Bradley Dack before he got his injury.

“The special talents in the team are generally the ones who make the right decision with the ball, they make the right decisions.

“Harvey has assets that Bradley (Dack) has: that trust when he has the ball. It was a wonderful performance from Harvey.

“We’re delighted to be working with him and I hope that he’s enjoying his time here."
