Tony Mowbray makes Ian Poveda demand as he assesses Leeds United loanee's start at Blackburn

Tony Mowbray has claimed that Ian Poveda is adapting to life at Blackburn Rovers after his loan move from Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old made the switch to Lancashire in search of regular game time and impressed on his debut, grabbing an assist in a 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough.

But Poveda missed the following two matches against Luton Town and Hull City through an injury he sustained over the international break.

He returned to the starting XI in the trip to Barnsley but failed to make an impact as his side drew 0-0 and went unused in the 5-1 win over Cardiff City.

Despite already sitting out of three matches, Mowbray isn't concerned over the fitness of the Leeds winger, but feels he is still coming to terms with the demands being asked of him.

He told the Lancashire Telegraph : "Poveda can play off the right coming in on his right foot, he can also play behind the striker, he just wants the ball at his feet and tries to make things happen.

"He can run all day, that’s not a problem for him, it’s just putting him in the team so he understands the demands and the work ethic that’s required."

Poveda could be set for a recall to Rovers team when they make the trip to Blackpool on Saturday afternoon as they look to bounce back from Tuesday's defeat at Huddersfield Town.

Blackburn currently sit just inside the play-off places in the Championship, having lost just two in their opening 10 matches so far this season.
