Tony Clubb set for Wigan Warriors return after serving eight-match ban

Tony Clubb will make his return to the Wigan Warriors side on Sunday - with Adrian Lam confirming the forward is set to retire at the end of the season.

The prop is available for selection after serving an eight-match ban for using ‘unacceptable language based on national or ethnic origin’ towards Hull FC’s Andre Savelio earlier this season.

Lam confirmed that Clubb would come straight into contention for the game against the Giants, with Wigan desperately looking to avoid a sixth straight defeat.

It had previously been confirmed that the 34-year-old would be leaving the Warriors at the end of the season, which will bring the curtain down on eight years of service.

However, Lam revealed that Clubb was preparing to leave the game at the end of the season after a 16-year career in the professional ranks.

"I think Tony is of the mindset that this is his last year," Lam said.

"I guess if he plays well enough and another club comes in for him, he's got the option to do that.

"But I think Tony is focus is on getting our team back to winning ways and by breaking that down for himself is to come back and give us that leadership, and show us how to do it with his actions and his voice."

Lam believes his return will bring much-needed experience to the Wigan side.

"He's a senior member of our squad and we've missed that. Even though we do have players out injured, it's the seniority I feel that has hurt us the most.

"He's going to be welcomed back with open arms. He understands what has transpired at the start of the year and getting into this position.

"We've all moved forward as a group and a club and we're looking forward to him playing with us again and bringing that experience with us."
