Former Prime Minister Tony Blair was grilled by Susanna Reid and Alastair Campbell today over his controversial hairstyle during a recent interview.
Alastair, who worked as Mr Blair's spin doctor during his years in power, was quick to start the interview by asking what he was thinking.
Alastair said: "I've always defended you and tried my hardest to look after your communication and image.
"What were you thinking going on TV looking like Alvin Stardust or Gandalf."
Mr Blair said: "Gandalf is better than some of the other things I've been called.
"It was lockdown and it took me some time to get organised and get to the hairdresser."
Mr Blair joked that his hair had had more of an impact on the public than anything else he had spoken about this year.
And Susanna was quick to comment on that and said: "Welcome to being a woman on television.
"What your hair looks like and what you wear is what people talk about, welcome to my world, this is how the other half lives."
Mr Blair then spoke about the Labour party and said that Keir Starmer had a big task on his hands to get the party back in power.
Mr Blair said that Sir Keir had taken over leadership of the party at possibly the most difficult time in its history and there were big issues to face.
