Tony Ageh appointed BBC controller of archive development

Tony Ageh's new role at the BBC's Archive was confirmed today; he's controller of archive development, which means overseeing much of the work in making the phenomenal amount of BBC content accessible to the outside world. Given that this content won't be fully digitised until 2022 - and even then only the content that can be digitised - Archive director Roly Keating will need all the help he can get and, more specifically, the expertise of an internet native.

Ageh was controller of internet until today, but he'll lead the web specific sides of the project that include standards and policies for content as well as strategy. The former Guardian creative director joined the BBC in 2002 and also worked on iPlayer and WAP location services, among other things.
