Tony Adams reveals what Arsenal Under-23s coach Steve Bould told him about Mikel Arteta

Tony Adams has revealed that his former team-mate and current Gunners under-23s coach Steve Bould told him that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is the 'best he's seen in a long time'.

Arsenal secured their first Premier League victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford in 14 years on Sunday with Arteta triumphing against the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea since he took charge of the club last December.

A second half penalty from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang takes Arteta's side up to ninth in the league as they continue to look well-drilled and tactically astute under the Spaniard's stewardship.

"He [Arteta] follows me on socials - he's heard me on more than one occassion say 'Arteta, get yourself a back four in place and work with them!' and he's got fantastic ability to work with this team," Adams told StadiumAstro.

"He puts hours into the training pitch, if [Mesut] Ozil's not in his thinking then he's out.

Adams still maintains regular contact with Arsenal Under-23s coach Bould who, according to the former captain, has been lauding Arteta for his work ethic and understanding of the game.

Arsenal have won the FA Cup and Community Shield since Arteta took over from Unai Emery last year, while defender Shkodran Mustafi recently said he has 'never had such detailed training sessions' in his career to date.

"I can't speak highly enough of the guy. When I talk to my mate Steve Bould who's still in the club managing the Under-23s at the moment and he said to me 'Tone, this guy's got it at all.

"He's the governor, he's the best he's seen in a long time. He really does understand the game. He expresses himself, he's very confident - it's his first job for god's sake and he's doing a remarkable, remarkable job."
