Toni Kroos out for three to four weeks as Real Madrid’s injury problems mount

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos is set to be sidelined for around three to four weeks with an adductor problem.

The German international picked up the injury in Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at home to Real Sociedad and joins a number of players on the sidelines at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Following tests carried out on our player Toni Kroos today by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a grade 2 tear of the adductor muscle in his left leg,” the club revealed in a statement on Monday.

“His recovery will be monitored.”

Kroos is set to miss the Liga games against Betis, Sevilla and Espanyol, as well as the two-legged Copa del Rey last-16 tie versus Leganes, but he should be back for the knockout stages of the Champions League next month as Madrid face Ajax home and away.

Gareth Bale, Marco Asensio, Mariano Diaz and Marcos Llorente are all currently sidelined and AS reported on Monday that Madrid’s players have had a combined total of 30 injuries this season, missing close to 500 days overall.
