Toni Kroos in ominous Celtic warning as Real Madrid star puts Champions League rivals on notice

Toni Kroos has put Real Madrid's Champions League rivals on notice ahead of the hotly-anticipated group stage.

The Bernabeu star insists the current tournament holders are just as lethal away from their home patch as they are in front of their own fans. Celtic kick off their European campaign at home to Carlo Ancelotti's superstars on Tuesday, September 6 in what's set to be a huge night at Parkhead.

Celtic are flying ahead of the group stage and racked up an astonishing 9-0 victory over Dundee United at the weekend. But Los Blancos have also made a flawless start to the new season, beating Espanyol at the weekend to maintain a 100 per cent record that also includes beating Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Super Cup. Real have been red-hot on the road as Karim Benzema's two goals and a Vinicius Jr strike earned victory on Sunday.

And Germany international Kroos reckons it shows the La Liga giants can go anywhere and get a result. He said: "We have now won three La Liga games away from home and the Super Cup too and it shows we are comfortable when we are not in Madrid too.

"When you play away from home, there are moments you will have to suffer and the home side pressurise you. But we are very good at realising when the opposition begins to tire and targeting that. I think you could see Espanyol were tiring and we dominated towards the end. It's very important to start the season well both in the league and in Europe.

"Karim Benzema did it again for us. He doesn't care about winning individual prizes, all he cares about is helping the team and he's done it again here."
