Toni Kroos has hit back at Mason Mount for his comments following Chelsea's Champions League semi-final win over Real Madrid.
The Blues won 2-0 in the second leg at Stamford Bridge to progress 3-1 on aggregate and reach their first final in the European top league since 2012.
Mount starred in the 2-0 victory, with the 22-year-old scoring late on after fine work from Christian Pulisic on the right-hand side.
Speaking after the game, the Chelsea midfielder took the chance to single out a comment made by Kroos prior to the game, where the German star said he has never lost sleep over an opponent in his career.
Mount told CBS Sports: “I saw one of their players say before that he doesn’t lose sleep over individuals.
“But I think as a team, they need to lose sleep over us as a team. We give everything and we’re so strong together, we defended for our lives.
“You saw that today we don’t give away many chances. We are solid and we need to keep that going.”
Now, Kroos has snapped back on Twitter, where he reiterated his initial comments, but also sent Mount good luck ahead of Chelsea's final against Manchester City later this month.
The tweet read: "Still sleeping ok. But well done yesterday. congrats. Good luck in your first CL final."
These are the comments made by Kroos prior to the second leg that seemed to trigger Mount somewhat.
The Los Blancos midfielder said: "In my 15 years playing football, I never lost sleep.
"They showed in Madrid (in the first leg) that they play as a team. They have a German coach so that doesn't surprise me.
“They defend well and have pace up front, those are their strengths."
