Tommy Wright admits pressure is building after a grim start to the campaign for St Johnstone but insists he’s up for the fight.
Saints have clocked up nine games without a win and are rooted to the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table.
Former Northern Ireland goalkeeper Wright – the longest-serving boss in the top flight behind Aberdeen’s Derek McInnes – hopes an impressive six-year track record in the hotseat will buy him time.
The 56-year-old said: “I am not blase about it but i have never given up in my life so i’m fighting. I won’t be quitting. i haven’t quit anything in the past.
“We know the position we’re in and we know we have to get that first win because it is building pressure.
“it’s bringing the heat on to the players, the fans are getting frustrated so we need to get that done. Once we do that we can hopefully get a bit of momentum going.
“What has happened in the past might get me a bit more time but i fully understand the situation.
“i spoke to the chairman Steve Brown at the weekend and everything was OK but i know results have to improve.”
