Tommy Wright admits he was delighted his side bounced back from disappointment to put Clyde to the sword.
Kilmarnock saw their 2-0 win against East Kilbride in the Premier Sports Cup overturned and replaced by a 3-0 defeat due to Daniel Armstrong playing while being suspended.
But the Rugby Park boss says grabbing the three points against League One Clyde was the most important thing.
Blair Alston opened the scoring in the opening 30 seconds before Innes Cameron doubled the advantage in 19 minutes with a penalty.
An Ally Love spot-kick just before the hour mark gave the Bully Wee hope but Killie saw it out to pick up a 2-1 win.
Wright told Killie TV: “The most important thing was getting the three points.
“I thought first-half we were outstanding, we should have scored at least another couple of goals.
“Their goalkeeper made good saves and we missed a few chances, we played at a good tempo and had a fast start.
“The goal coming so quickly settles the nerves, but the second-half we didn’t play as well as we can.
“It was tough in that weather, and the pitch is great but because it wasn’t watered it was quite dry and slow.
“But in saying that we should have had three or four in the second-half.
“We seen the game out well, it was a good three points considering the week we’ve had."
