Tommy Tiernan announces new comedy gigs but tickets will be very hard to get

Tommy Tiernan will be returning to the world of comedy when the Navan funnyman takes up a residency during The Grand Auld Stretch festival.

Given Tiernan's remarkable popularity and skill on stage, his entire six-night stint in Galway has already sold-out, but diehard fans might be able to get their hands on a ticket if they're lucky.

In terms of the gig, he finally returns to the stage for a special run of live shows in the brand new purpose-built outdoor venue on Nimmo's Pier on the banks of the River Corrib.

Given the popularity of his RTE chatshow and podcast, the comedian has been quite busy, but with restrictions on live performances beginning to ease up, the festival is bound to be extremely popular.

As stated on the official website for the gig: "Tommy has been cooped up in the henhouse all year working hard on getting his new show together, and now he’s ready to make live audiences laugh again. These are the ideas in their rough and ready state.

"Expect lots of experimentation and mischief as he crams months’ worth of thinking into a 75-minute stand-up comedy routine. It promises to be jam-packed with unmannerly notions, chaotic flights of fancy and joyful talking. This is a very special return to live comedy in Galway."

The Grand Auld Stretch run from August 13th to 22nd, and will feature six very special Work In Progress shows from Tommy Tiernan and music from Róisín Dubh favourites Mick Flannery, Jape and Paul Noonan & Daithi’s new incarnation Houseplants.

It also includes the revival of John Conneely Inc’s legendary Sunday night sessions for two very special appearances.

The riverside venue will nestle beneath stretch tents to keep audiences cool or dry, whatever the weather.

There will also be a click and collect bar, top quality sound and stage set up plus 40 picnic benches sold in pods of four and six to a maximum crowd of 200 people.
