Tommy Sheridan in bizarre 'Wizard of Oz' Boris Johnson rant over Brexit on Russian state TV

Tommy Sheridan has appeared on Russian state television to give his view on UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson

The former Scottish Socialist Party MSP and Solidarity Party leader was a guest on Russia Today (RT) where he was asked his views on the upcoming General Election and Brexit.

Unsurprisingly he takes a staunch anti-Johnson stance in the interview which was beamed to Russia from a studio in Glasgow.

However, the interview quickly takes a bizarre turn as Sheridan launches into a speech about the Prime Minister reminding him of a character from the Wizard of Oz.

Sheridan begins by referencing Johnson's statement that he would rather "die in a ditch" than ask the EU for an extension to Brexit.

Sheridan said: "The news from Scotland is that all the hardware shops have sold out of spades and shovels.

"All over Scotland people have been digging ditches and inviting Boris Johnson to come along and go into one of those ditches as he promised, because it's the 31st of October and we're still not out of Europe.

"He said he would die in a ditch if we weren't out by the 31st of October.

"It's only one in a long line of commitments/slogans that Boris Johnson simply can't match up to."

Sheridan went on to say the Tory Prime Minister reminded him of the scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz, however he may have got his characters mixed up.

He said: "He talks a lot without saying very much. He reminds me of the character in Wizard of Oz .

"The straw man perhaps without a hat but he would be better as the metal man without the brain.

"The truth is, in Scotland Boris Johnson is going to be obliterated."

The RT presenter can barely get a word in as Sheridan concludes the interview by explaining his hopes for Scottish independence and a Labour majority at Westminster.
