Tommy Robinson was laughed at as his pitiful European election results were read out last night - and his performance is going to cost him thousands.
The far-right candidate, whose electoral campaign was punctuated by milkshake-throwing protesters, polled just 2.24 per cent in the north west.
As results were read out at Manchester Central convention centre last night, the former EDL leader was met with laughter by audience members, Manchester Evening News reports.
Mr Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, will also lose his £5,000 deposit that candidates have to put down before standing, because he polled less than 5 per cent.
He blamed the results on social media restrictions, arguing he was barred from online platforms.
However, his tour around the North West was met with strong opposition, with crowds gathering to oppose the controversial candidate in many areas.
After being pelted with milkshake in Warrington , voters in Liverpool made it clear that Mr Robinson and his views were not welcome in their city.
A letter stating that he was not welcome on Merseyside was signed by former Liverpool FC star Jamie Carragher , as well as many MPs including Dan Carden , Bill Esterson and Munzi Ali, of the South Sefton Muslim Community.
His disastrous visit to Bootle saw him having to be escorted by police through a back alley after eggs and what appeared to be a bottle of milkshake were thrown at his van.
Protesters sat in the road to block traffic, chanted and waved placards ahead of the far-right activist’s arrival in Bootle on Sunday, May 19.
In total he received 38,908 votes in the North West, coming just behind Change UK.
In Liverpool, Labour surged to a comfortable first place with 38,048 votes, with the Brexit Party taking a surprising second place with 17,351.
The strong remain vote was split between Lib Dems with 15, 776 and the Greens with 14,481.
Robinson's failure in the European elections was celebrated by many Liverpool voters on social media.
Joe Connolly said: "Great job of the united left in embarrassing Tommy Robinson."
Joe Campbell said: "Hearing Tommy Robinson’s result getting laughed at in Manchester is a small victory."

Commenting on the result, North West Regional Organiser for Unite Against Fascism Paul Jenkins said they were "absolutely delighted" at the outcome.
He added: "Stand Up to Racism and Unite Against Fascism launched our campaign to stop Robinson - supported by trades unions and politicians in the North West - on 25th April, the same night that he announced he was standing as an MEP candidate.
"We have continuously campaigned - to stop him from being elected - over the past month, with mass leafleting, stalls, rallies, protests against him, and other activities - across the whole region in Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside."
