Tommy Robinson 'in solitary confinement 23 hours a day over fears of attacks'

Jailed Tommy Robinson is reportedly being kept in solitary confinement as he serves time for nearly causing a sex abuse trial to collapse.

The far-right activist is reportedly terrified of being attacked by "Muslim prison gangs" while he is behind bars.

When he was previously sent to HMP Onley, he claimed, he lost 40lbs because he was anxious about what he could eat.

The convict, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is spending 23 hours a day in his cell, according to Spectator USA , while he serves nine months for contempt of court.

He has a long history of anti-Muslim comments, and is now afraid of his words coming to haunt him at HMP Belmarsh, it is claimed.

Far-right writer Ezra Levant, who describes himself as a 'rebel commander', claimed after visiting Robinson: "Everyone knows that the UK prisons are overrun by gangs, Muslim gangs in particular, which is why he couldn’t be in the general population, and why he couldn’t eat food sent to solitary confinement in Onley."

He went further, outrageously claiming British authorities would be happy if Robinson was killed.

Last weekend Robinson supporters clashed with police in central London.

Tommy Robinson was found guilty of contempt of court at the Old Bailey (PA)

The English Defence League founder was handed a nine-month sentence at the Old Bailey last month - of which he will serve just nine-and-a-half weeks - after he committed contempt of court.

He filmed defendants outside Leeds Crown Court during a trial into the sexual exploitation of girls.

It breached a reporting restriction and put in jeopardy other child grooming trials. His videos were seen 3.4million times but there was a ban on publicising any details because there were other ongoing trials that involved a total of 29 people.

Robinson was pictured wearing a 'Convicted of Journalism' t-shirt before he was sent down.

He was actually found guilty of breaking reporting restrictions by “aggressively confronting and filming” defendants in a criminal trial and broadcasting the footage on social media.

A judge also deemed that in approaching the defendants and publicly asking why they were not being harassed he had been enticing his supporters to 'engage in vigilante action'.
