Tommy Fury vs Kenan Hanjalic LIVE!
Tommy Fury returned to action on Friday night with a victory against Kenan Hanjalic. Fury had not fought at all since his controversial points win over KSI back in October 2023 that came shortly after his defeat of arch-rival Jake Paul in Saudi Arabia. After recovering from surgery on a potentially career-threatening hand injury and struggling through a dark 2024 both inside and outside of the ring, Fury outpointed Bosnian opponent Hanjalic at the MTK Arena in Budapest in his first outing for 19 months.
Fury, still unbeaten in the professional ranks and now at 11-0, was supposed to return against UFC fighter Darren Till earlier this year, only to withdraw from that bout citing concerns over his opponent’s threats to use MMA tactics in the ring. Instead he made his comeback in Hungary in a scrappy cruiserweight main event that went the full six rounds.
Friday’s undercard saw Roman Fury, brother of Tommy and Tyson, beat Croatian heavyweight Josip Pehar to stay undefeated following dominant early wins for Hungarian duo Varadi Sandor and Valentin Koloszar. Follow Tommy Fury vs Kenan Hanjalic reaction live below!

Tommy Fury vows to knock 'scared' Jake Paul 'spark out'
Friday 9 May 2025 22:20 , George FloodHere is Tommy Fury’s response in full when asked about that potential rematch with Jake Paul.
He had suggested in the build-up to tonight’s return that he was no longer interested in it...
“Jake Paul is a b***h and he’s running scared,” Fury said in the ring after beating Hanjalic.
“Jake, the hand’s fixed now baby. The hand is fixed.
“I fought a guy in here tonight, he’s had over a hundred amateur fights, experienced and he’s as tough as teak.
“If Jake Paul wants to step inside this ring, I guarantee you next time I will knock him spark out.
“I’ve had two years out of the ring, this is after two years. I’ll knock that bum out whenever he wants it.”
Tommy Fury throws down gauntlet for Jake Paul rematch
Friday 9 May 2025 21:44 , George FloodA passionate post-fight interview inside the ring from Tommy Fury, who dedicates the win to his partner Molly-Mae Hague, his daughter Bambi and his parents, speaking of the pain of the last year, his injury, battle with alcohol and briefly losing his family.
Asked about a potential rematch with Jake Paul, he calls him a b***h who is running scared and insists there is no doubt that he would knock him out at the second time of asking.
Will we get to see it? Time will tell.
Tommy Fury beats Kenan Hanjalic by unanimous decision
Friday 9 May 2025 21:36Hanjalic struggles to get his gloves off as Fury and the MC are made to wait in the middle of the ring before we get the official decision, which will surely lead to Fury staying unbeaten and moving to 11-0.
Again we don’t get the individual scores, but it’s announced as a unanimous decision victory for Fury.
Very far from a vintage performance, but he’s understandably delighted to be back in the winning column after so long out of the ring.
Tommy Fury vs Kenan Hanjalic
Friday 9 May 2025 21:32 , George FloodRound 6
Fury trying to set up the big shots off the jab early in the sixth.
Hanjalic then tries to lunge forward before he’s cracked by a decent combination and then beckons Fury onto him.
Another couple of nice right hands from Fury, who then jabs well again with the left and does some taunting of his own as Hanjalic’s entourage chant loudly for their man at ringside.
Decent jab and right hook combo lands from Fury, with Hanjalic stumbling.
Fury’s hands are down now as he continues to goad Hanjalic, then peppering him with more late shots off the back foot.
A right lands just before the final bell from Hanjalic in another physical close-range battle.
We go the distance. Fury will have won this on the cards for certain, but so much to improve on.
We expected a lot of ring rust though after 19 months out and he will be grateful of the rounds under his belt.
Tommy Fury vs Kenan Hanjalic
Friday 9 May 2025 21:29Into the final round at the MTK Arena.
Can Fury finish a really scrappy fight with a flourish?
Tommy Fury vs Kenan Hanjalic
Friday 9 May 2025 21:27Round 5
The scrappiness continues as Hanjalic ends up on the deck following more ugly, physical exchanges. Again, not a knockdown.
Hanjalic continues to paw away with his black glove at that damaged nose, with his blood smeared over the shoulder of Fury.
Fury just can’t establish any rhythm here, he’s smothering most of his work on the inside and any attempted attacks end quickly in repeated clinching.
A classic, this certainly is not.
Fury will surely be up on the cards, but it’s far from pretty, as we probably expected after such a long time out of the ring.
Tommy Fury vs Kenan Hanjalic
Friday 9 May 2025 21:23 , George FloodRound 4
Hanjalic still looks uncomfortable at the start of the fourth following that low blow.
Good action initially in the fourth as Fury again ups the aggression, but he’s also caught by a thumping right as he’s roughed up by the ropes.
Now Hanjalic has had a point deducted - that looked harsh.
Fury attacks well to the body again with the left before another extended clinch.
Fury tries to detonate a right uppercut before more messy clinches, with Hanjalic’s nose still bleeding a lot and the Bosnian breathing heavily.
Another scrappy round ends with Fury trying to find a home for that right hand.
Tommy Fury vs Kenan Hanjalic
Friday 9 May 2025 21:20 , George FloodRound 3
Fury jabbing well with the lead left again early in the third, hoping to tee up a big right.
He’s upping the tempo and his work rate before the referee has to separate them again.
More aggression and attacking intent now from Fury as he lurches forward and lets his hands go again.
The referee intervenes again to break another clinch as Hanjalic complains about punches to the back of the head.
Hanjalic always smothering any potential promising work here on the inside.
Fury with a nice left jab and then left hook, now he lands a swinging right to the body.
Blood pouring from the nose of Hanjalic now before he’s caught low with just seconds to go in the round.
Hanjalic clearly felt that and now sinks to his knees, given time to recover in the corner as he shakes his head and takes his time to boos from the crowd.
To be fair to Hanjalic, that was very low indeed.
He looks very uncomfortable still as Fury snaps in a short left and a nice right in a furious exchange before the bell.
Hanjalic is still really unhappy as the two men almost clash before they return to their respective corners.
We’re halfway through already in Budapest.
Tommy Fury vs Kenan Hanjalic
Friday 9 May 2025 21:14Round 2
Fury tries to start fast again in the second before Hanjalic slips and falls to the canvas - the referee rightly and quickly makes it clear that was not a knockdown.
Messy stuff again as they tie up a couple of times, Fury trying to land on the inside during some scrappy exchanges.
Tentative now as Fury tries to drill in that left jab to the body once more, then letting his hands go with a decent flurry.
Hanjalic comes back onto the front foot and some more gruelling, messy close-range exchanges follow.
It’s really ugly stuff at times as both men try to sneak in close-range shots while leaning heavily on each other.
A smart lead left lands from Fury before the bell in the second, allowing him to get through with a couple of sharp shots that rattle off the head.
Tommy Fury vs Kenan Hanjalic
Friday 9 May 2025 21:10 , George FloodRound 1
Fury starts with a strong jab to the body, sizing up his opponent as he tries to hold centre ring.
A quick double jab sets up a right hand, with Fury then easily evading a telegraphed attack near the corner from Hanjalic.
A messy exchange then follows as the two men tie up and are quickly separated by the referee.
Fury jabs again and misses with a big swinging left as he looks to let the big shots fly early.
A straight left lands and Hanjalic throws a clubbing right as he again forces Fury to the ropes.
But he’s quickly out and lands a short shot on or just after the bell, much to Hanjalic’s displeasure.

Friday 9 May 2025 21:07Here we go!
Can Tommy Fury make a statement in his first fight for 19 months?
Time to find out...
Tommy Fury vs Kenan Hanjalic
Friday 9 May 2025 21:05 , George FloodHere comes Fury, plenty of energy as he bounces around, shadowboxing and trying to up the noise levels in a modest crowd.
Faithless gives way to Rihanna as he strides purposefully to the ring, adorned in white and gold.
Tommy Fury vs Kenan Hanjalic
Friday 9 May 2025 21:03 , George FloodA large entourage with Bosnian flags accompanies Hanjalic as he finally makes his way out into the arena.
He’s vowed to knock Fury out early tonight in what would be an almighty upset.
Time for Fury’s ring walk...
Tommy Fury vs Kenan Hanjalic
Friday 9 May 2025 20:59 , George FloodRight, after a bizarrely long break our hosts are finally back in the ring to introduce the main event.
Tommy Fury vs Kenan Hanjalic is coming up!
Erm, it’s still just non-stop dance tunes and crowd shots at the MTK Arena at the moment.
We hope Tommy Fury will be ring-walking very soon...
Still we await those main event ring walks in Budapest.
The final live musical performance of the night has long since finished and it’s now just been non-stop rave music for the last few minutes, with no sign of tonight’s hosts.
The crowd look to be enjoying themselves at least inside the MTK Arena!
Tommy Fury vs Kenan Hanjalic coming up
Friday 9 May 2025 20:36 , George FloodOne more musical performance to go, then it will be time for tonight’s main event - which is coming much earlier than many anticipated.
Tommy Fury fights for the first time in 19 months next in a six-round cruiserweight tussle against Bosnian Kenan Hanjalic.

Roman Fury stops Josip Pehar in round four
Friday 9 May 2025 20:30 , George FloodIt’s over in the fourth!
A badly struggling Pehar is dropped again by another shuddering short left that lands flush from Fury.
The referee allows it to continue, but Fury keeps up the relentless pressure and a hurt and exhausted Pehar drops to his knees again, prompting a one-sided bout to be waved off.
An impressive display from Fury, who stays unbeaten and moves to 5-0.
Roman Fury vs Josip Pehar
Friday 9 May 2025 20:27 , George FloodPehar is almost sent down again by Fury in the third, with the referee making the surprise decision to give him a count anyway.
The Croatian is in trouble here, in full survival mode as he’s deducted a point for constant holding.
It feels like only a matter of time before Fury stops this.
Roman Fury vs Josip Pehar
Friday 9 May 2025 20:22Fury stays on the front foot throughout but remains patient, his approach eventually paying off as Pehar hits the canvas at the end of the second.
Fury rattles in a couple of wincing body shots that drop the defences of Pehar, who is then quickly tagged hard by a short left hook that sends him stumbling back and down.
Fury will be pushing for the stoppage with two rounds to go.
Roman Fury vs Josip Pehar
Friday 9 May 2025 20:19 , George FloodA quiet first round but some promising work from Fury, who is staying patient but snapped back the head of Pehar with a couple of well-timed and accurate shots.
He’s not rushing anything and is trying to set traps for the Croatian, who is staying alert for the most part.
Fury coming forward all the time, trying to pick his punches carefully.
Roman Fury vs Josip Pehar
Friday 9 May 2025 20:15Here we go with the co-main event of the night in Budapest.
You’ve got to feel sorry for Pehar, who makes his way to the ring in silence due to some technical issues.
No such problems for Fury.
Croatian Pehar is 7-5, outpointing Marko Petricevic in Bosnia last time out after back-to-back losses to Sebastien Philippote and Gradus Kraus.
Roman Fury vs Josip Pehar
Friday 9 May 2025 20:12 , George FloodHalf-time show over, Roman Fury is about to make his way to the ring at the MTK Arena.
He’s 4-0 so far as a pro, outpointing Ryan Hibbert, Erik Nazaryan and Bradley Davies before beating Martin Svarc on the Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou undercard on his last outing in Saudi Arabia last year.
He was supposed to fight on the KSI-Dillon Danis undercard against American Chase DeMoor in Manchester in March, only for that bill to be cancelled due to KSI being ill.

Roman Fury and Tommy Fury in action soon
Friday 9 May 2025 20:00 , George FloodWe are now into this evening’s half-time show, with more musical performances on the way.
After that, Tyson and Tommy’s brother Roman Fury will look to stay unbeaten and move to 5-0 as a heavyweight as he takes on Josip Pehar.
Then it will already be time for tonight’s main event, with Tommy Fury fighting for the first time in 19 months in a six-round cruiserweight battle against Bosnia’s Kenan Hanjalic.
I’m guessing Shokhjakhon Abdullaev vs Irakli Alanidze has been removed from the bill, though I’m not 100 per cent sure on that at this stage.

Varadi Sandor easily outpoints Nikolas Panic
Friday 9 May 2025 19:48 , George FloodUnsurprisingly Sandor is announced as the winner, staying unbeaten and improving to 4-0.
There will be a break of around 10 minutes now until our next bout.
There’s also a big show planned for halfway through proceedings tonight, before brothers Roman and Tommy Fury head into action.
Varadi Sandor vs Nikolas Panic
Friday 9 May 2025 19:43 , George FloodSandor dominant throughout another one-sided four-rounder, upping the tempo noticeably in the last couple of minutes.
He’s putting a vastly overmatched Panic under huge pressure now, piecing the stylish combinations together.
However, the Bosnian makes it to the final bell.
Another comfortable points win coming.
Varadi Sandor vs Nikolas Panic
Friday 9 May 2025 19:40 , George FloodAn enormous gulf in class between these two as the hugely skillful Sandor continues to dominate this fight off the back foot.
Panic is trying to be the aggressor, but he’s far slower than Sandor, who has great variety and anticipation in his work.
He’s deflecting mostly all of what Panic throws at him.
It’s really tidy stuff, he’s just not really quite upped the tempo yet in search of a stoppage.
Varadi Sandor vs Nikolas Panic
Friday 9 May 2025 19:33 , George FloodA dominant opening round from 18-year-old Sandor, who has Panic living up to his name with a confident first three minutes.
He’s gliding around the ring nicely, attacking smoothly off the back foot, picking his punches very well.
He’s rattling in that solid left to body and head.
Panic far slower than his talented opponent, who looks so sharp already.
Varadi Sandor vs Nikolas Panic
Friday 9 May 2025 19:28 , George FloodAnother musical interlude now in Budapest before we continue on with the undercard.
Another Hungarian is up next, with Varadi Sandor in a four-round light-heavyweight bout against Bosnian Nikolas Panic.
Sandor is 3-0 as a professional so far, stopping Stevo Babic and Arnel Hucic before outpointing Neven Stojanovic.
Valentin Koloszar beats Alexandru Ionita in opening fight
Friday 9 May 2025 19:22 , George FloodIt was only a four-rounder of course, but that was mightily impressive from Koloszar to sustain that sort of relentless pace and keep letting the big shots fly in such constant volume throughout.
He lands that piercing right uppercut a few more times in another one-sided final round featuring plenty of lovely combinations, with Ionita clearly buzzed as he soaks up so much heavy punishment.
While the scores are not read out, Koloszar is unsurprisingly announced as the winner by unanimous decision, moving to 2-0 as a professional.
A 34th straight loss for Romanian journeyman Ionita, who can at least take pride from not being knocked down or stopped there and can also cling onto that contentious first-round knockdown.
Valentin Koloszar vs Alexandru Ionita
Friday 9 May 2025 19:15 , George FloodMore of the same in a totally one-sided third round, Koloszar continuing to swarm Ionita and let his hands go constantly with non-stop volume barrages to both body and head.
His right uppercut in particular looks a decent weapon, though the power doesn’t really look to be there yet with Ionita having eaten so many shots so far but not gone close to going down yet.
The Hungarian is absolutely teeing off on the journeyman at will, delivering some stylish combinations with non-stop pace.
He knows he needed to step it up after that first-round knockdown.
Valentin Koloszar vs Alexandru Ionita
Friday 9 May 2025 19:10 , George FloodKoloszar shows no ill effects whatsoever from that debatable knockdown at the end of the first as he explodes again at the start of round two.
He’s got no defence at all, but he’s swarming Ionita constantly and his hands are a blur as he continues to throw everything he can to both head and body in search of a stoppage.
He’s certainly got an engine, it’s relentless stuff from the Hungarian - and the home crowd love it.
This time there is a bell to signal the end of the round.
Valentin Koloszar vs Alexandru Ionita
Friday 9 May 2025 19:06A fast start from Koloszar, who is immediately on the front foot and onto the offensive in front of an adoring home crowd at MTK Arena.
He’s super aggressive with fast hand speed, landing a constant flurry of punches to body and head, showing his variety of shots.
But he’s then caught with a big overhand right and hits the canvas after what looked like a tangle of feet, but the referee gives him a count!
He’s straight back up and looks a bit embarrassed.
A weird end to an otherwise dominant round from Koloszar.
Was there even a bell there to signal the end of the first? The fighters didn’t appear to hear one.
Valentin Koloszar vs Alexandru Ionita
Friday 9 May 2025 19:00We’re underway with tonight’s show in Budapest, which has kicked off with a musical performance.
First up on the three-fight undercard is a four-round featherweight battle between home favourite Valentin Koloszar and Romania’s Alexandru ‘Tety’ Ionita.
Journeyman Ionita is 7-34-1 and has lost his last 33 fights in a row, including against the likes of Joe and Peter McGrail.
He will have another tough task tonight against former Hungarian amateur national champion Koloszar, who is fighting for only the second time as a pro aged 21.
He debuted with a third-round knockout of Bosnia’s Luka Veljovic in December.
Will Tommy Fury rematch Jake Paul or KSI?
Friday 9 May 2025 18:55 , George FloodIt will be interesting to see what lies ahead for Tommy Fury in 2025, provided he comes through tonight’s comeback victorious as expected.
The lucrative rematch with Jake Paul has long been discussed, with the pair constantly rowing on social media about it.
KSI also wants the chance to avenge his controversial defeat by Fury, but has also not fought since the first bout after illness forced him out of a meeting with Dillon Danis in March.
It remains to be seen if Fury will be willing to eventually face Darren Till, who knocked out replacement opponent Anthony Taylor in Manchester in January.

Tommy Fury opens up on 'worst year of his life' in 2024
Friday 9 May 2025 18:31Tommy Fury, who turned 26 earlier this week, has spoken candidly in the build-up to his return tonight, describing 2024 as the worst year of his life due to that lay-off after hand surgery and a break-up with his fiancee Molly-May Hague, with whom he has a daughter, Bambi.
The two now appear to have rekindled their relationship and he’s determined to make 2025 a time to remember both in and out of the boxing ring.
Fury told ITV’s Good Morning Britain this week that he had “always thought, breathed boxing”, until “all of a sudden, you’re sat in hospital bed”.
He added: “You fall into a little bit of a dark place.
“I couldn’t get out of bed in the morning, do what I wanted to do and live and do what makes me happy.
“2024 was the worst year of my life, and this year is going to be the best year of my life, and it starts on Friday.
“I’m happy mentally now. (You’ve) got to go through these challenges in life.
“Everyone’s got a hard life. So at the end of the day, it’s all about I come through this, and I’ve come through, I’m on the other side, and I’m back doing what I do best.”

Sparks fly at feisty Fury vs Hanjalic weigh-in
Friday 9 May 2025 18:14Having just said that about a likely lack of fireworks tonight, it’s worth noting that Tommy Fury and Kenan Hanjalic did have a bit of aggro at the weigh-ins in Budapest yesterday.
The two went nose to nose in tense scenes and Hanjalic shoved Fury, adding at least a little spice to tonight’s proceedings.
Both men have vowed to go for a quick knockout, though only four of Fury’s 10 pro bouts so far have ended in a stoppage - each of those in the first or second round.
Hanjalic has four knockouts to his name too from six fights, including just three weeks ago in the second round against fellow Bosnian Edhem Hrustic in Laktasi.
His lone pro defeat to date was on points against Italy-based Cuban Angelo ‘El Terrible’ Morejon in Veneto last year.
Tommy Fury vs Kenan Hanjalic prediction
Friday 9 May 2025 18:01 , George FloodHaving not previously seen Kenan Hanjalic box, it is obviously very difficult to make any sort of prediction over how he may be able to trouble Tommy Fury tonight.
But it is extremely difficult to imagine that they would have picked an opponent who was too difficult for his first outing in more than 18 months.
Fury’s boxing career has totally stalled since his money-spinning fights with Jake Paul and KSI in 2023, and it remains to be seen if he just sees a future in those sorts of (admittedly hugely lucrative) high-profile celebrity contests or if he still wants to make a genuine push for success in the traditional avenues of the sport.
Now over that serious and lingering right hand issue, he will want to make a statement return but will have so much ring rust to shake off and will no doubt be grateful just to get some rounds under his belt at long last.
We envisage a low-key contest short on fireworks in which the heavy favourite eases to a wide points win.
Fury to win on points.

Undercard and running order

Tommy Fury vs Kenan Hanjalic live
Friday 9 May 2025 17:51 , George FloodTommy Fury’s long absence from the boxing ring officially ends tonight as he fights for the first time in 19 months.
Tyson’s younger half-brother is out in Budapest, where he makes his comeback in a six-round cruiserweight main event against Bosnian opponent Kenan Hanjalic at the MTK Arena.
It’s been a tough time for Fury since his unconvincing and contentious points win over KSI back in October 2023, with memories of that memorable defeat of arch-rival Jake Paul in Saudi Arabia having faded during a long lay-off following surgery on a career-threatening hand injury.
He pulled out of a scheduled headline Misfits contest against Darren Till back in February due to the latter’s comments about potentially using MMA tactics in the ring.
Stay tuned for live coverage of tonight’s event in Hungary, where Fury is expected to ring walk at around 10pm BST.
The undercard action should be from 7pm and includes another Fury brother in undefeated heavyweight Roman.
