Tommy Fury will return to the ring in March or April, whether or not Jake Paul is in the opposite corner.
The Love Island star was set to put his 7-0 professional boxing record on the line against Paul at the Amalie Arena in Florida last month, but was forced to pull out with a broken rib.
And while he is pushing to have the fight rescheduled for later this year, he has promised to get back to fighting within the first half of 2022, once he is deemed fit.
But with Paul set to take until as late as July to get back in the ring, Fury has insisted that he will be in the ring with or without him by April at the latest.
"I would love to fight in March or April," Fury said during an appearance on The MMA Hour. "100 per cent with or without Jake Paul.
"If Jake Paul wants to go again in the summer, I'm happy to take that fight, but I want to get a fight in before that and I just want to be active this year.

"I'd like to fight four times this year, because you don't get better unless you get through them ropes and I ain't going to get better just hitting the bag or sparring in the gym.
"I need to get underneath them lights, get more fights and get better.
"So with or without Jake Paul, I'll be fighting this year hopefully around four times and hopefully we can rekindle this fight and get it settled finally.
"After all this talk back-and-forth, press conferences, interviews, let's get this fight done - it's not as if nobody wants to see it.
"A lot of people in this world want to see that fight and I do believe it's the biggest fight out there that he can take so let's get it on!"
Fury's plan in boxing has always been to emulate his brother; the world heavyweight champion Tyson, by winning belts of his own in the sport.
But first he will need to step up in competition from the journeymen he has fought to this point, and he plans to do so this year regardless of a fight with the 5-0 Paul.
"Make no mistake, Jake is the fight I want next," Fury continued.. "I'm checking in with my team every single day to see where we're at with that.
"But there comes a time where I have my own career and my goal still doesn't change, my goal is to be a champion in this sport and believe it or not, fighting Jake Paul doesn't give me that at all.

"Fighting Jake Paul will never make me a champion in boxing, so yeah it's a great fight, a big fight, but it doesn't really make me achieve my dreams.
"So I'll wait for a certain amount of time and try my best to get that fight back on track, because talk to anybody they'll tell you this is the fight I want.
"But at the end of the day, my career goes on and Jake Paul's in this, I don't know why because he says a lot of things you can't believe, but I'm in this since I put on a pair of gloves to be a champion in this sport.
"So I'll wait for an amount of time and if it comes off great, if it doesn't I will resume with my career and start winning some titles this year.
"That's just the way life is, but the ball is in Jake Paul's court now, I'm doing everything I can to get this fight rescheduled but it shows his true colours that he's not jumping at a rescheduling."
