Tommy Fury's dad John walked out of training camp just weeks before Anthony Taylor fight

Tommy Fury's dad John walked out their training camp following a row just six weeks before his upcoming fight with Anthony Taylor.

The pair were at loggerheads because Tommy wanted to attend his girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague's mother's wedding, which John told him he couldn't do as he was in camp.

And when the Love Island stars decided to attend, 'Big John' was so angry that he quit the youngster's training team for two days before calming down and returning.

Speaking with BT Sport ahead of the bout with Taylor, John compared his relationship with Tommy and brother Tyson, who is world heavyweight champion, to Joe Calzaghe and his late father Enzo.

Calzaghe and his father were close friends and had a coach-fighter relationship, but would constantly bicker and have blow-ups that led to the pair ending their professional relationship.

"We had a blow-up the other day," John told host Steve Bunce. "He went to his girlfriend's mother's wedding and I told him not to go, I said 'we're in camp, if you're going to do that I'm out of here!'

"I left for two days, it takes me two days to calm down because all these people don't know nothing about the fight game.

"They're reality TV people, they know nothing about where I'm coming from and it upsets me because you can only do one thing in the boxing world and that's perfect what you train to do.

"They don't call it training for nowt, you can't go for a party and then come back, it ain't rehearsal.

"And then you're under the bright lights and everybody there wants to see you get knocked out and everybody's shouting abuse you need to be on top of your game.

"He is on top of his game, with me he is anyway, because if he didn't want to train how I want to train I'd say 'there's the door, go through it,' and I'd be out of there."

The pair ended up reuniting, and appear to be on good terms as Tommy jetted off without his father for the first time in his professional career over the weekend.

The elder Fury believes that the event is going to be "fun" for Tommy, who he says is in "no immediate danger" from 5"7' former Bellator MMA fighter Taylor.

The cocky Californian is 0-1 as a professional boxer, losing his lone bout in 2017, but is currently riding a five-fight MMA win streak that includes two UFC fighters.

He most recently fought in January of last year against former UFC fighter Chris Avila, and has been training with Jake Paul in Puerto Rico for the YouTube star's main event fight with Tyron Woodley.

It is expected that a win for Fury, who holds a 10-inch reach advantage over the American, will set him up for an eventual fight with Paul, perhaps the second of his two-fight American deal with Showtime.
