Tommy Fury in talks to fight YouTube star KSI in huge blow to Jake Paul

Tommy Fury's dad, John, has held talks with YouTube star KSI over a potential showdown.

Fury picked up a huge win in his long-awaited showdown with Paul in February, earning a split-decision victory on the scorecards in Saudi Arabia to settle their bitter rivalry. The 'Problem Child' had inserted a rematch clause in the contract to the mega-money bout, which he confirmed he intended to activate following the tough defeat.

It was expected that the rematch would take place in the summer, with Fury expressing his desire to accept the sequel if called upon, given the magnitude of the first event. However, John Fury has suggested that the British star could instead avoid a rematch and pursue a meeting with KSI.

In an exclusive chat with Mirror Fighting courtesy of FreeBets.com, Fury Sr said: "Well, no, we aren't sure I have been in talks with the Sauerland brothers about a possible match-up with their man KSI. I had a meeting with them the other day and it went well. Let’s see what happens. I am still waiting to hear from them, but they did text me the other day saying they are really busy and they are on it.

"If it can be done, we will do it. Whoever else wants to box Tommy, ring the number and get in touch. I don’t deal with the Jake Paul rematch, I am on a rest period and I have just left that to my lawyer. But I’m sure if it can be done, we can do it."

KSI suggested that he would be willing to step in the ring with Fury after Paul was defeated by the ex-Love Island star - despite holding an intense rivalry with the American himself. 'The Nightmare' will first take on Joe Fournier next month in London, but could set up an all-British showdown against Fury, who is spending time with his newborn child.

This could be a significant blow to Paul, who was eyeing redemption against Fury before potentially re-negotiating his public winner-takes-all agreement with KSI for a fight at the end of the year. Despite having initial agreement with the American over a second clash backstage after they first touched gloves, Fury hinted that alternative options could be on the cards.

"I’m down for the rematch. I’ll fight him tomorrow, it’s not an issue," he said during an interview on Soccer AM. "But does he want it now? I’m not so sure. He was the one barking up the hill, but I’m sitting on the top of that hill now. So, it’s my call. There’s a lot of meetings going on, but believe you me, the next fight I take, it will be bigger than Jake Paul."
