Tommy Fury ‘doesn’t have knockout power’ and would have lost to Jake Paul, claims Anthony Taylor

Anthony Taylor has claimed Jake Paul would have overcome Tommy Fury had the latter not pulled out of their bout initially scheduled for December 18th.

The two had been set to meet in Tampa Bay later this month before Fury was forced to pull the plug on it after breaking a rib and suffering a chest infection.

Taylor, who narrowly lost to Fury in August, suggested Paul would replicate the kind of style Oleksandr Usyk adopted in order to beat Anthony Joshua in September.

“[Fury is] a novice,” he said to Sky Sports.

“He just had height on me. He doesn’t have knockout power. If Jake fought Tommy, it would have been the same fight as Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk. Usyk moves like Jake moves. Jake, against Tyron Woodley, touched every corner and crevice of that ring. Jake has better cardio than Tommy. His IQ and his awareness are better.

“The real reason [Fury withdrew] is that his conditioning was not on point. I fought Tommy - his cardio was bare, even in important rounds. He had six weeks to get into shape but it takes longer than that. Big John Fury knew that and, I guarantee, he pulled the trigger on this fight because he didn’t trust Tommy’s cardio.”
