Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague accused of ‘breaking lockdown rules’ after travelling back to Manchester

Former Love Island stars Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague have come under fire from fans after appearing to travel from Hertfordshire to Manchester during the lockdown.

The couple, both 20, who met on the ITV2 dating show last summer, spent the earlier stages of the lockdown period at Hague’s family home in Hertfordshire, sharing photos and videos on Instagram and TikTok.

However, based on new social media posts, fans have noticed that the pair now seem to have travelled back to their flat in Manchester - despite the fact that lockdown rules have not yet been lifted.

Government advice currently warns against any non-essential travel in order to curb the spread of coronavirus. The public have been asked to stay in their homes where possible and only leave the house for essential work, daily exercise and to shop for food.

Writing on a Reddit thread dedicated to the ITV show, some Love Island fans criticised the pair’s decision to travel.

“Molly and Tommy have been posting pictures and video’s [sic] from quarantine at Molly’s parents house, at one point I remember Molly saying so glad we chose to isolate here,” one Reddit user wrote earlier this week.

“Tonight she has posted on Instagram and she is back in Manchester at her and Tommy’s flat.

“I appreciate this isn’t the worst thing in the world but travelling between homes is deemed non essential travel and I think it’s a bit silly of her to change location and post showing she has.”

“They have definitely done wrong,” another added. “Unless the situation at Molly's parents has become completely untenable they should have stayed there.”

A third said: “I do think it's very very silly to show everybody she's back in Manchester. But if they drove themselves home and didn't stop along the way, I don't think the risk is that high.”

A source close to the couple told The Sun that the pair did not “come into contact with anyone on their travels.”

"They left Molly's mum's house to head back home to Manchester, but they haven’t come into contact with anyone on their travels, only each other,” they said.

Standard Online has contacted representatives for Fury and Hague for further comment.

The pair came second in last year’s series of Love Island and were pipped to the top spot by Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea.

They are now the only couple from the 2019 competition that are still in a relationship.
