Tommy DeVito dead: The Four Seasons star dies from coronavirus aged 92

Tommy DeVito has died from coronavirus aged 92.

The musician, famed for being one of the original members of the iconic Doo-Wop group The Four Seasons, died on Monday night in Las Vegas.

His passing was confirmed by actor Alfredo Nittoli in a Facebook post shared on Tuesday, TMZ report.

The online message told that Tommy died Monday night at a Vegas area hospital - where he was recently admitted after contracting COVID-19.

Alfredo added in the post that Tommy's daughter Darcel told him of Tommy's death before adding that a service will soon be held in memory of the star in his native New Jersey.

Tommy was one of the founding members of The Four Seasons, along with Frankie Valli, his brother, Nick, and Hank Majewski.

They were originally named the Variety Trio before changing their name to The Variatones.

They later went as the Four Lovers before eventually deciding on the Four Seasons.

The band found success with their single, "Sherry," and some of their biggest hits include "Big Girls Don't Cry" and "Walk Like a Man."

Tommy left the group in 1970.

In 1990 Tommy along with other members of the iconic group were memorialised at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Musical Jersey Boys - that has had Broadway and West End success - dramatizes the formation, success and eventual break-up of the 1960s rock 'n' roll group.
