Tomas Soucek's message to West Ham fans after suffering gruesome injury in Tottenham win

Tomas Soucek suffered a gruesome blow to the head in West Ham's win over Tottenham but insists it "feels great" to get one over on their rivals.

The Hammers cemented their place in the top four with a 2-1 win at the London Stadium.

Michail Antonio and Jesse Lingard both notched as David Moyes' side won for the seventh time in their last nine games.

Soucek has been pivotal to their impressive form this term following his summer arrival.

The Czech international put his body on the line when defending a corner which resulted in a bloody injury.

He clashed heads with Davinson Sanchez which led to him being patched up before carrying on.

Soucek was thrilled with the success though as he took to social media and said: "Great feeling to win a London derby."

It means the Hammers are two points ahead of Chelsea in fifth and five points ahead of sixth-placed Liverpool.

Manchester City are next up for West Ham as their assault towards the Champions League continues.

Moyes hailed Soucek as a "manager's dream" and wants them to continue as they are to have a chance of the top four.

"A great win for us. A tough opponent. Things like possession we feel we can be better," he said.

"Let's not get carried away totally, we still have some things to do but simple things like hunger and the desire to succeed can cover other things as well.

"I think if we'd had a bit more care we could have got 2-0 up at one point but we didn't quite do that.

"He [Soucek] is a manager's dream. He is somebody who wants to play, really humble and enjoying being here.

"Jesse has been a very good player, we shouldn't take that away. He has had a difficult year. He has given us something else and helped us get better.

"We have only done half a job. If we continue this way we will be close. I don't want to be negative in any way."
