Tomas Soucek compared to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as Declan Rice tipped for Champions League

Liverpool face a West Ham side looking to win a seventh game on the spin for just the third time in their history this weekend, with plenty of players to watch out for among David Moyes' ranks.

Attackers Said Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen are two that Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson will need to keep a close eye on, while Michail Antonio is always a constant threat to centre-backs with his pace and strength.

But there are two other players for the European football chasers who are being tipped to cause Liverpool problems ahead of the clash.

"Tomas Soucek is Moyes’ new Marouane Fellaini - a big man who arrives late in the box," said West Ham reporter for Football.London, Tom Clark, on the Behind Enemy Lines podcast.

"It is those trademark late runs [that he does so well] and Moyes said in his press conference that he has that knack of running onto the ball.

"I’m not going to compare him to Steven Gerrard because he is not at that level yet, but he has the knack of getting onto those balls.

" Declan Rice is a very good player but he doesn’t get those goals - that is something that Soucek does do."

Rice is a player who has been linked with a move to Liverpool at times over the past few weeks, with the Reds reportedly one of those sides tracking his situation ahead of the summer.

Every in-form midfielder in the country is likely to be linked with Liverpool given Gini Wijnaldum is almost certain to be departing, but the feeling at West Ham is that it is inevitable that he ends up in the Champions League sooner rather than later.

"Rice is very, very good, and he has improved in the 12 months that Moyes has been there - he keeps on getting better," Clark added.

"He is captaining the team at 22 and he is playing almost every minute for England as well. He is calm, controlled and his passing is underrated.

"He sits in front of the back-four, he breaks up play and passes it onto the likes of Manuel Lanzini, Pablo Fornals and Benrahma.

"He plays a lovely 40-50 yard raking ball and he is a leader - it is his voice on the pitch that tells everyone they need to up the tempo.

"You have to make sure you are performing before you start getting on the back of players who are 10 years older than you, but he does.

"West Ham fans hate the amount of times he is linked with Chelsea, Man United and Liverpool because he has been there a long time.

"But it is understandable why he is linked with these big clubs because he is a top-quality player.

"He will be a regular in the Champions League at some point in his career."

With West Ham sitting just outside the top four spots heading into the weekend of action, getting into that competition could even come with the team he is at now.

But Liverpool will be hoping to put a dent in those ambitions by picking up their second league win of 2021 at the Olympic Park.
