Restaurant chain Tomahawk Steakhouse has announced the opening date of its new Northumberland eatery.

Steak lovers will be able to enjoy the restaurant chain's famous Tomahawk steaks on New Market, Morpeth from May 2.

It is the latest venue to open with 17 branches across the region including the firm's Rio Brazilian Restaurants, which includes Newcastle Quayside, Durham, Ponteland and one due to open in Sunderland.

Writing on Facebook, the company said: "We are excited to announce our official opening date is Tuesday 2nd May!!

"We’re thrilled to be bringing our famous Tomahawk steaks to Morpeth. We'll be open for walk-ins only on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with bookings now live from Friday 5th."

Howard Eggleston opened the first Tomahawk Steakhouse in Potto, North Yorkshire, in 2017, quickly drawing regular crowds with its Tomahawk steaks, Himalayan salt dry-aged beef and Yorkshire wagyu.

Its success led to more openings across the region and Mr Eggleston and his team have since expanded outside its heartland North, while seeking out locations for further Tomahawk restaurants around the UK.
