Tom Youngs cited for alleged punch on Wales Six Nations squad member Will Rowlands

Leicester Tigers hooker Tom Youngs will appear before a disciplinary panel for allegedly punching uncapped Wales lock Will Rowlands.

Rowlands was on duty for Wasps against Tigers over the weekend when the incident involving Youngs, who played for the British and Irish Lions in 2013, occurred.

Youngs, who has represented England 28 times, was cited by independent citing commissioner Andy Blyth following the match.

He is charged with punching or striking Rowlands, contrary to Law 9.12, in the 53rd minute of the league encounter at Welford Road.

Rowlands was with Wasps because Wales must release their England-based contingent during Six Nations fallow weeks and on occasions when they are not involved in matches.

Wales winger Jonah Holmes was also playing in the match, taking his place in the Tigers' line-up.

Leicester won the game 18-9.
