Kate Middleton collaborator Tom Walker spills on secret rehearsals with 'talented' royal

Tom Walker opened up about the behind-the-scenes rehearsals he had with the 'really talented' Kate Middleton for their Christmas collaboration.

The Duchess of Cambridge joined Tom at the Royal Carols: Together At Christmas service, which paid tribute to 'inspirational' people who served their communities during the pandemic.

He was singing his track For Those Who Can't Be Here with Kate playing the piano in the background on the programme which aired on December 24.

The singer appeared on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday to discuss their 'top secret rehearsals' before the big night.

"She's fantastic, a really talented musician. We had a top-secret rehearsal to make sure we were both comfortable with playing with each other, it was at Metropolis Studios," he explained.Their collaboration came after Tom met Kate at a charity event in 2021.

He was approached to play for the carol service and Kate suggested playing the piano as music gave her a lot of comfort during the lockdowns.

"We did a charity event together and got chatting and I was approached after that to ask if I could play the carol service," he said.

Since the festive program aired, Tom’s single has shot up the charts – and he has opened up about how his project with the Duchess happened.

Explaining all to The Sun, Tom said: “It was so well received, I probably owe her royalties now. She sent me a letter thanking me for the opportunity but it should be me thanking her.

“The song has jumped 57 places in the charts. It was a wonderful experience and she was so warm. She made the effort to thank all the musicians but it was us who felt so grateful to be part of something so special.”

The audience as well as viewers at home were stunned to witness the Duchess' hidden talent.
