Tom Thibodeau wants Derrick Rose to find 'peace of mind'

Timberwolves coach Tom Thibodeau was asked after practice Saturday about oft-injured and former league MVP Derrick Rose and Rose's decision this week to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers while he re-evaluates his future.

Thibodeau coached Rose for five seasons in Chicago, including that MVP season.

"I love Derrick," Thibodeau said. "What he did in that city. I just want him to have peace of mind. Whatever it is he decides, I know what he has gone through and it has been tough. It's a hard road. He's a great person. He's a great player. What he did in that city was amazing and special and as time goes on, people in Chicago already do love him and appreciate what he did, but I think they'll appreciate him more and more for what he did there.

"I just want him to have peace of mind."

Thibodeau considered signing Rose as a free agent last year before opting to sign Jeff Teague to a three-year, $57 million deal instead.
