Tom Rogic should be a Celtic transfer makeweight to land the player Neil Lennon needs - Hotline

Ron Gordon has caused a bit of a stir in Hotline land.

The Peru-born US based businessman bought out Sir Tom Farmer and Rod Petrie as he wiped out the capital clubs debt.

Can Gordon now turn Hibs into a major force in Scottish football?

First up was John Scott, Grassmoor, said: "A Hotline caller suggested that Celtic and Rangers were so far ahead of the rest the teams like Hibs, Aberdeen and Hearts that we should all admit defeat and start their own league without the big two.

"What is the point trying to keep up with these two self-righteous behemoths of the Scottish game?"

"Aye that'll be right.

"Ron Gordon's takeover of Hibs is a game changer.

"This is one Hibs fan who can't wait for the new season.
 Bring it on.

Resident bluenose John Bruce, emailed this not so subtle message:

"Among all the Old Firm transfer stories, one team has flown under the radar until earlier this week.

"News of the Hibs takeover has brought them in to the spotlight with a bang.

"The possibility of money being given to the manager to add quality to their squad is now a real one.

"Paul Heckingbottom looked to be doing a good job at Easter Road after his appointment and under the new owner Hibs may be one to watch in the league next season and could maybe even pip Celtic to second place!"

Gordon Ashley, Ayr, said: "Rangers fans claiming that Hibs are a new club because they've been taken over by a new company do not live in the real world.

"The difference is that Hibs, Celtic, Hearts and Aberdeen have never been liquidated in their history.

"All four clubs are rightfully proud of this."

On to Celtic now and Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, said: "I worry about Jozo Simunovic starting in Bosnia.

"He is clumsy and too injury prone for my liking.

"Neil Lennon should approach Brendan Rodgers and offer him his so called 'magic man' Tom Rogic in exchange for Filip Benkovic.

"That would be a dream partnership at the back with Christopher Jullien.

Meanwhile, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive with Rangers linked to a sensational move for Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge.

Paul Keenan, emailed in to say: "Now we have got deluded bluenoses using the rumour linking millionaire Sturridge with a move to Ibrox as a yardstick of Rangers ambition and progress."

Frank McFerran, Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, said: "I see it's rumoured that Rangers are trying to sign Daniel Sturridge.

"I hope not as his nickname at Liverpool is sick note."

Meanwhile Paul Bailey, Bellshill, said: "I love this time of year,
Wimbledon, the Open and the annual gum bumping championship of Rangers fans on what they're going to do.

Celtic's Tom Rogic celebrates his late winner (SNS Group)

"To be fair, they win that title hands down on this every year but as usual Celtic will be on the winners podium again come May."

John Davidson, Armadale, said: "It just shows how much it means to Cove Rangers to appoint Paul Hartley and his background staff.

"I hope they hit the ground running and progress through the league and provide another non league success story like the other Highlands teams throughout the years.

"
There were two calls on the Three Lionesses World Cup campaign."

Albert Styles, Stonehaven , said: "I would just like to thank the USA for putting us Scots out of our misery by knocking England out of the World Cup.

"We will no longer have to constantly hear from radio and TV pundits that if England win the World Cup its their first trophy since that year.
Is it any wonder we love to see them lose?

Finally Dunky Robertson, London, said: "Phil Nevillie's side exit is best summed up by the words of the late, great commentator Kenneth Wolstenholme.
"They think it's all over - it is now!"

A bit like the Hotline hour.
