Tom Rogic price tag revealed as Celtic star is eyed by Brendan Rodgers

Celtic have slapped a £15million price tag on Tom Rogic with former boss Brendan Rodgers set to spark a bidding war for the Aussie playmaker.

The Leicester City manager is considering raiding his old club for the 26-year-old and it is understood Premier League rivals Southampton are also in the frame.

Rodgers has remained tight-lipped about the prospect of returning to Celtic for signings but has been linked with Kieran Tierney and Callum McGregor.

Rogic is another but Southampton have been also tracking the midfielder along with several other sides in England and Europe.

The former Central Coast Mariners star has missed four months of the season due to injury and international duty but has four years remaining on his current deal and is regarded as one of the main men at Parkhead.

Celtic have previously out-priced several English Championship clubs – such as Leeds United – when testing the water with bids of around £5m.

Hoops chiefs will demand at least three times that amount for the 45-times capped Australian international.

The Parkhead club have yet to make a decision over the managerial role for next season – with Neil Lennon still in pole position – but remain determined to keep hold of their top performers.

Celtic are already facing a summer exodus regardless, with loan men Oliver Burke, Timo Weah, Filip Benkovic, Jeremy Toljan will all return to their parent clubs, while Dedryck Boyata, Mikael Lustig, Emilio Izaguirre, Cristian Gamboa and Dorus de Vries are all coming to the end of their deals and expected to leave.

Celtic are also braced for summer bids for Tierney, with Italian sides Napoli and Inter Milan keeping tabs on the full back.

Meanwhile, Emilio Izaguirre is looking to finish his career with an MLS club in the United States – despite claiming Neil Lennon wants him to stay at Celtic.

The Honduran returned to the Hoops for a second spell last summer as back-up for Kieran Tierney at left-back.

And the 32-year-old has played more games than he expected, turning out 19 times thanks to Tierney suffering injury problems.

But Izaguirre’s one-year deal is set to expire and he’s ready to put family before football by moving closer to his homeland.

It was Lennon who first brought Izaguirre to Celtic in his first spell as Hoops boss back in 2010.

And the defender said: “Neil has spoken with me and wants me to continue at Celtic. But I want to be nearer to Honduras to play for the national team.

“I hope something will come up in the MLS. That is my desire and my wife’s as well.

“It is hard to say what my future will hold.

“We will see when I get back to Honduras.

“My agent is working on it. My idea is to play more regularly so I can remain in the national team.”

But Izaguirre has relished working with Lennon once more after rejoining Celtic from Saudi club Al-Fayha.

The 32-year-old said: “I spent four seasons with Neil. He was like a father to me in European football.

“Thank God he returned and has continued to count on me. Only God knows whether I will continue playing for Celtic. I didn’t know that I would rejoin them, yet here I am.

“There is a lot of rain and cold weather in Scotland. It is good for the way people experience football. But I would not swap Honduras for anything. I love my country and being at home.”
