Tom Rogic in Celtic nod with West Brom kit number as he looks to recreate Parkhead magic

Celtic legend Tom Rogic has given a nod to the Hoops' famous No. 7 shirt after being unveiled at West Bromwich Albion following his move last week.

Rogic spent nine years at Celtic Park, winning 16 trophies in nine years at Parkhead to become one of the club's most successful players of all-time in terms of accolades. Being one of the key players across era's that were oversaw by Ronny Deila, Brendan Rodgers, Neil Lennon and Ange Postecoglou, the Canberra-born star did become synonymous with Celtic's dominace throughout the 2010's.

However, the Socceroos star left the club after almost a decade at the end of last season having amassed 273 appearances for the Hoops with 46 goals to his name. With many wondering what his next move would be at the age of 29 years old, little would have predicted that Rogic would make the move to the English Championship; but lo and behold, a move to West Bromwich Albion beckoned last week. And, having taken the No.7 shirt, the Australian has given a nod to the 'Magnificent 7' and famous heroes where that famous jersey continues to resonate at Parkhead.

Celtic have had plenty of number seven heroes in the past; Henrik Larsson being the obvious one, alongside icons such as Jimmy Johnstone, Scott McDonald and more; although whilst the number has not been used in recent years, fans will be hoping that Giorgos Giakoumakis will have a similar impact under Postecoglou.

Of course, the number seven does not stretch to just players; the infamous 'Magnificent Seven' game against Rangers all the way back in 1957 still holds the record for the most comprehensive victory margin in a British major cup final - with seven now being a famous number for fans of the Hoops as a result.

Rogic previously detailed why he plunged for a move away from Celtic upon his arrival in the west Midlands last week, stating that a change of scenery was necessary for him as he moves into his thirties before the end of the calendar year.

“I’d been set in one place for quite a while and I was looking for a new challenge and a change of scenery and I certainly have that here, so I’m really looking forward to getting started," Rogic told West Brom's official website.

“I have a lot of fond memories from my time at Celtic and I was fortunate to have the perfect send off there. But, as I say, I was looking for a change of scenery and a fresh challenge.”
