Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton to leave Celtic as iconic duo set for emotional transfer farewell

Adored Celtic heroes Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton will leave the club at the end of the season after a trophy-laden run at Parkhead.

The Wizard of Oz sparked fears his illustrious stint in Glasgow's east end was nearing it's end on Thursday night with an emotional Instagram post highlighting his epic run in green and white.

And much loved utility man Nir Bitton is also heading for the exit door after an epic run since joining in 2013.

Rogic has one year left on his current Celtic deal but Saturday's title party against Motherwell will act as his final game for the club.

The 29-year-old came to the fore under Brendan Rodgers and established himself as a big-game hunter en route to an incredible quadruple Treble.

Rogic endured an injury-plagued season last time out but a protracted transfer to Qatar fell through and he remained at Parkhead.

And fellow Australian Ange Postecoglou has reaped the rewards with the playmaker integral for the champions as they regained the title from Rangers.

Manager Postecoglou, speaking to the the club's website, said: “While we are very sad to see both Tom and Nir leave the club, we totally respect their decisions in wanting to seek a different challenge in football, having both played their part in our success for the past decade.

“They have certainly made such a tremendous contribution to Celtic over such a long and successful period for the club and I understand that in their minds the time is right to move on.

“I am sure they will leave with the sincere best wishes of our supporters having given so much of themselves to Celtic.

“From a personal perspective, as well as being very talented players, both Tom and Nir are top guys who have supported me brilliantly this year, in my first season – and again played a big role in this season’s success.

'It is fitting that they leave Celtic as champions.

“Of course we will miss them, but we wish both Tom and Nir, and their families, great success in everything they do.”

Team-mate Bitton's future was thrown into doubt after cryptic update to social media last weekend.

Fellow Celtic veteran James Forrest is staying after he penned a new three-year deal on Thursday.
