Tom Parker postponed wedding to wife Kelsey to achieve dream of playing Danny in Grease

Tom Parker delayed his wedding so he could achieve his dream of playing Danny in Grease The Musical.

The 33-year-old singer who tragically lost his life to brain cancer today, asked Kelsey Hardwick to marry him in 2016.

But after he was picked to play heartthrob Danny Zuko in the touring production of retro favourite Grease, they didn't get married until July 2018.

He starred alongside former EastEnders actress Louisa Lytton, who played Rizzo in the show that opened in March 2017.

Speaking to Hello Magazine, Tom said at the time: "We wanted to make sure we plan it right and I don't want to take two weeks off, get married, do a week on honeymoon, then go back on tour. I didn't think that was something I'd be comfortable with."

"We've seen so many venues. But do you know what – I feel like the wedding is the girl's day and her dream.

"I mean, Kelsey knows what she wants and how she wants it to be, so I’m letting her put everything into place and I’ll just give her my credit card when needs be," he added.

Reflecting on his role as the coolest guy at Rydell High School, Tom said that he believed there was a "little bit of Danny Zuko" in every man.

Adding that most guys are "soppy" underneath the bravado.

Although he admitted that he was probably more of a Eugene than he was a T-Bird when he was at school.

He said that he was bullied at school and reflected on how kids stole his GCSE school notes and dumped them on the cricket field, only for them to be destroyed by the rain.

But he joked that he got the last laugh, and that being in a boyband is like being a T-Bird.

Tom has left behind his beloved wife Kelsey, who he married on a farm in Surrey after they had been together for over ten years.

Free spirit Kelsey said that she had dreamed of tying the knot outdoors, and called her big day "perfect".

Kelsey told OK! in 2020: "It was literally love at first sight. I saw him outside a nightclub in London and I grabbed my friend and said: 'Oh my God, I love him'".

And Tom agreed, revealing: "I knew as soon as I saw her that I saw her as the mother of my children."

Kelsey shared the heartbreaking news that she had lost her husband in a post on her Instagram.
