Tom Parker and his wife Kelsey were the 'definition of soulmates' says wedding goer

The Wanted's Tom Parker has been described as a "bright light who was taken from us far too soon", by a journalist who chronicled major moments in the singer's life, such as his wedding.

Kirsty Hatcher, a reporter at OK! witnessed the joyous day Tom married the love of his life Kelsey, but also interviewed him about his brain cancer, which claimed his life last week, aged just 33.

Recalling her memories of the father-of-two, Kirsty said: "He had a heart of gold and lived life to the full with an infectious energy and cheeky personality to match. He also possessed incredible strength and positivity."

The reporter described meeting Tom and Kelsey for lunch to hear about their wedding plans, where their love for each other was clear.

"They really were the definition of soulmates. They even told me how they knew they were going to get married from the moment they met back in 2009," she said.

The pair got married in July 2018 in a lavish ceremony in Surrey, with bandmates Max George and Jay McGuinness performing the role of ushers.

Tom, Max and Jay serenaded Kelsey with The Wanted's ballad Heart Vacancy, while dancer Kelsey performed a routine to Crazy in Love by Beyonce, along with her friends.

Surrounded by loved ones, the pair then sang hit Glad You Came together.

Kirsty also recalled visiting the pair's south east London home in the autumn of 2020, to interview the couple, who were expecting their second child Bodhi, about Tom's diagnosis of glioblastoma.

While his appearance was altered, his strength and positive attitude were still clear to see, with Tom repeating his intention to fight the disease.

Kelsey was described as an unyielding support for Tom, who focussed on positive stories of people who had been diagnosed with Tom's condition, and lived for more than 25 years.

Finishing her tribute, Kirsty wrote: "Tom was a bright light who was taken from us far too soon."

Last night, Tom was remembered in The Grammys In Memoriam segment.

Many stars were honoured in the tributes tonight, including Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who passed away recently, as well as musical legend Stephen Sondheim, who died in November 2021.

Tom was shown on screen during the segment, where Ben Platt, Cynthia Erivo, Leslie Odom Jr and Rachel Zegler sang a medley of Sondheim songs as they paid tribute to the stars that had been lost this year.

Fellow celebs as well as Tom's bandmates paid tribute to the singer.

Max George in an Instagram post said Tom's passing has left a "huge hole in his life".

He wrote: "Max wrote: "Tom, my brother, my boy, my band mate, my best bud.. You lit up so many lives all over the world but I can only speak on behalf of mine. From the minute I met you, I knew this was gonna be a special chapter in my life. I was right."
