Tom Lawrence in Rangers injury update as crocked midfielder makes 'tried everything' admission

Tom Lawrence has been luckless with injuries so far in his Rangers career but seems to be on the mend.

The Englishman was recruited by former boss Gio Van Bronckhorst from Derby County and hit the ground running in his first handful of games at Rangers. But the 29-year-old then suffered a tough injury prior to the Old Firm derby in September and has setbacks since with his recovery including going under the knife for his knee.

Lawrence had hoped, according to Michael Beale, to be back for the tail end of the campaign but now it appears the midfielder won't be ready until next season. But the experienced player took to Instagram to thank fans for support and provide a crucial update that said surgery did go as planned.

He said on Instagram: "Appreciate all the messages over the past week off everyone, not how I wanted my first season to go at Rangers with injuries.

"After trying everything over the past five months in and out of the gym the only solution was to have surgery and get ready to play again next season. Surgery went well and I’m looking forward to getting back on the pitch in the near future."

Beale said: "He came into the club and I thought in the early part of the season he looked like a fantastic signing.

"He was playing to a really strong level. Unfortunately, he’s suffered a long-term injury since then but when he comes back he’s part of this squad moving forward."
