Tom Kerridge is opening a Manchester restaurant in the city’s newest luxury hotel

Renowned celebrity chef Tom Kerridge is to set open his first Manchester restaurant later this year.

Two Michelin starred Kerridge will oversee the food and drink offering at the Stock Exchange Hotel, due to launch this autumn.

The luxury hotel is being opened by Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville's GG Hospitality, after an extensive renovation of the 1906 Edwardian building.

Located on Norfolk Street, close to the recently-reopened Fopp record store , the five-star hotel will boast a huge apartment and added roof extension as well as 41 hotel rooms.

Michael O'Hare, formerly of Rabbit in the Moon in the Urbis building, was initially tasked with opening the restaurant in the hotel, but cut ties with Giggs and Neville last year.

Now the role will fall to Tom Kerridge, who has earned two Michelin stars at his Marlow pub The Hand & Flowers.

Kerridge is also the man behind the Pub in the Park food festival, which will take place in Knutsford this weekend with a music line-up including Texas, Will Young and Fun Lovin' Criminals.

Kerridge said: "This is a really exciting opening for us. The hotel is going to be stunning and we’re very happy to be working with GG Hospitality.

"We can’t say much at this stage, but I can say that we’ll be bringing a bit of Marlow up to Manchester.

"We are very much looking forward to being a part of the city and joining the exciting and vibrant Manchester food scene."

Winston Zahra, CEO of GG Hospitality, said: "We are looking forward to opening the Stock Exchange Hotel and will be releasing all of the details in the coming weeks.

"We are especially happy to have partnered up with Tom on the food and beverage side of the hotel and are very much looking forward to working with Tom and his team in Manchester."

Will Kerridge bring his knack for Michelin recognition to the star-less Manchester? Time will tell.
